Tuesday

This day has gone completely differently than I thought it would when I woke up this morning, which happened to be at 5:15am. I have a serious problem with my bladder when it forces me to consciousness any time after 4:30am because at that point the scenario shifts from "I still have 2 and a half hours to sleep!" followed by a satisfied snuggle-down, to "UGH the alarm is going to go off in less than two hours..." followed by mentally running through lists of things I need to take care of at work, wondering what we have that will be easy to prepare for dinner this evening, and frustration that my husband who never snores suddenly starts. And how are he and the dog snoring in unison?

Today I had a 20 minute long argument with myself about whether or not I should get out of bed and go to the gym before work.

Today, the little angel on my shoulder sporting her Nikes beat out the little devil on my other shoulder, who was wearing cute pajamas and a sleep mask.

I was actually proud of myself and I'm hopeful that this is a sign that my motivation is returning and I'll be a morning gym-goer once again, something I haven't been since last summer.

After I picked up my Starbucks iced tea {my new reward system for hitting the gym-- don't knock it, it's working}, I headed home to shower and get ready for what I thought would be a normal Tuesday at work. It soon became clear that I would be staying home to nurse my husband back to health after he threw out his back, the poor guy.

We managed to get him back on his feet and to the chiropractor. I picked up Chipotle veggie burrito bowls for a late lunch/morale boost and now the patient is napping as I'm struggling to stay awake. I have no idea where my morning workout energy boost went, but I could really use it right about now.

So could this guy:

Are you a morning or an evening exerciser? I prefer to go in the morning, I like the energy boost it {usually} gives me, and then my nights feel much less rushed.

Do you have a reward system for when you accomplish a fitness goal? As I mentioned I've been treating myself to an iced tea when I make it to the gym; just getting there and doing something is my current workout goal.

Don't forget to enter the Toys4Tails giveaway!

Also, eShakti is offering 20% off with promo code DYNJYFLLFE now through March 10th! I'm a huge fan of their customization option.

I love going to the gym in the morning...it is a morale booster and gives me that extra jolt for the day. :) Hope your husbands back is ok!

I prefer the morning. I tried running one day in the evening and I had no motivation.

I don't really have a rewards system, but today in order to get moving more and because it has been raining all day I've decided that every time that I get up from my desk I'm doing 10 jumping jacks. Feels good.

i have always been a morning exerciser, first thing i do when i get out of bed. it makes my day go better, i know my workout is over and done with for the day and the rest of my day is more free but i like running on an empty stomach

I'd prefer mornings but since I walk for exercise its usually too dark before work. No rewards here but I should come up with something!

Your dog is SO adorable!

I joined a cycling class at my gym, and I absolutely love it!
I treat myself to my home made frozen yogurt for dessert.

It's really simple to make:
1 cup of any plain yogurt
+
1/2 cup of frozen berries
+
1 tablespoon of honey

mix and smash the berries, yogurt and honey together.

But I think it's also important to build your body up slowly. Don't push yourself too hard. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Put one foot in front of the other.

Blessings,

I'm DEFINITELY a morning exerciser. The longer I wait, the more excuses I find. I usually just get up and get my butt moving when my husband goes to PT in the mornings (as in, I make it in for 6am yoga... ugh). But then I can shower and be ready for the day!

I'm totally into rewarding yourself for a workout. Sometimes we need that extra push and if a treat gets me to the gym, elevating my heart rate, then its done me more good than if I just sat on my butt at home! I could've been a morning exerciser when I started at 9 but now that I start at 7:30, it seems impossible. I know it's not but good grief, I would have to go to sleep at like 9:00 pm... Way to go girl! Let's Get Physical!

Oh I wish I could be a morning gym person, just to get it out of the way, but I am totally not a morning person and have a hard time getting out of bed just to go to work. My best time for working out is around 5:30 or 6. I tend to get a second wind upon leaving work...suprise...ha! But then I don't feel like I have much time to just chill in the evenings. I am trying to go to the gym 2 evenings during the week, and once on the weekend. And I totally like the idea of rewarding yourself...I need all the motivation I can get :)

I'm so thankful your hubby is feeling better! And good for you going to the gym!!! That is one of the hardest things to do in the morning. Starbucks reward is genius! I do that for myself if I make it to the gym on Friday morning. :D

It's good to hear that other people struggle with waking up and not being able to shut their brains off! That's something that's a HUGE problem for me! I just found your blog, and I can't wait to keep reading!

I love exercising in the morning, but I can't do SUPER early in the morning - since I have to be at work at 7am every morning, I'm an afternoon/evening exerciser during the week, then do morning workouts on weekends. But mornings are definitely my preference. I also love your idea of a rewards system - I try and reward myself with bigger treats to celebrate many trips to the gym, like new workout clothes or things like that.

I love to workout in the morning but my work schedule doesn't always allow for it so I HAVE to workout at night. Blah.

Oh I hope your husband is feeling better!

I am not a huge morning person, but would like to start getting to the gym earlier. I think a reward system is a great idea - especially if it's working!
